(The Reality of Play-Based Learning in Bangladesh: Our Misunderstandings in Primary Education)

In this article, I explore some of the common misconceptions surrounding play-based learning in Bangladesh and discuss why meaningful play is not a distraction from learning, but a powerful pathway to developing children’s creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The piece also highlights the need for a more child-centered approach to primary education that values curiosity, participation, and holistic development.

As educators, parents, and policymakers, rethinking how children learn is essential if we want to prepare them for a rapidly changing world.

I am grateful to The Daily Asia Bani for providing a platform to contribute to this important conversation on the future of education in Bangladesh.
